How many times have you gone over and thought if aerobic training is better than anaerobic training to get a six pack?  It is one of the most asked questions by fitness enthusiasts all over the world.  And you will get all kinds of responses but in this article you’ll understand the difference between the two and which kind of training is better to lose belly fat and how to get a six pack.

Aerobic Training

Aerobic training is basically cardio training, where the body uses more oxygen.  It can be running, jogging, sprinting, cycling, swimming, etc.  How is aerobic training used to get six pack abs?  One of the most popular ways people get a nice flat stomach is by doing what’s called high intensity interval training, or HIIT for short.  The key behind this kind of training method is that it elevates your metabolism for several hours after you have done the exercise.

An example of HIIT would be to do a warm up jog for about 3 minutes, then do a 90% full speed sprint for 30 seconds, then regular slow jog for 30 seconds, and start that 2-part cycle over and over again for about 10 minutes.  This gets the job done fast, but it DOES come at a price.

HIIT training will help you burn belly fat and lose weight fast, however, since it’s very intense you will have to sacrifice some lean muscle tissue in the process.  Not only are you using stored energy (fat) but also you muscles as energy to perform the exercise.  Is HIIT recommended for everyone who wants to get lean? NO! But if you want to lose weight fast it is a good way to do that. But I don’t recommend aerobic training to get six pack abs and you’ll see why.

Anaerobic Training

Anaerobic training is when you perform quick exercises, when the exercise is shorter and focus more on muscle exurtion.  Also known as resistance training, anaerobic training is the better choice if you want to get a six pack. Why do I recommend Anaerobic training? Since it’s focused on strength building, you will not lose any muscle as you perform the exercise, but also still lose weight.  It really is like acheiving 2 goals at once, getting six pack abs and getting lean.

The biggest benefit of anaerobic training for six pack abs is that this kind of training speeds up your metabolis (like HIIT, without the consequences) for up to 3 days! That’s many times longer than what HIIT does for your body.  Since your body has to rebuild your muscles, you metabolism is in overdrive during that process.

There are many anaerobic exercises you can do at home and with very low-cost equipment, check out Mike Geary’s The Truth About Six Pack Abs Guide for some killer workouts, we highly recommend his fitness plans.
