To get your stomach to look better, you’ll have not only have to eat right, but also do effective exercises. If you are trying to spot reduce, as in, isolating certain areas to lose fat, you can’t do that. Reason is because when the body burns fat, it burns fat all around the body, not just in one spot. However, you can isolate muscle groups to gain muscle in certain areas, like your abdominal section.
Here’s a good exercise for belly fat, get flat on your stomach, hold your body up parallel to the ground using your toes and forearm. Now grasp your hands together with both forearms on the ground and hold that position for as long as you can. This will tone out your stomach and really start building your ab muscles.
One thing to note about burning off fat from your belly is that the more muscle growth in your body, the more fat loss you will achieve. It increases your resting metabolic rate, which determines how many calories your body expends as energy on a daily basis during times when the body is idling or not doing anything physical.
Another really good exercise is what are called sliding push-ups, I know it sounds silly and you think it only works the arms and chest, but actually also works out the core as well. It’s the core muscles that stabilize the movement and process of doing sliding push-ups. Here’s how it’s done, get in push-up position, and as you go down move right, as you push up align yourself with your new position. That’s one push-up, start the next push-up by going left as you go down, and align yourself again as you go up. The whole time you should be contracting your ab muscles the whole time, keep the core tight.
Stabilizing the movement is what will tone out the stomach tremendously, while at the same time giving your arms and chest a good workout as well. This is a great exercise for belly fat as well, lay down on your back, raise your legs and do bicycle legs in the arms. Do this while holding your lower back with your arms. Perform the exercise as long as you can before getting tired. This motion is not only cardio but also resistance training that will aid in fat loss and muscle gain.
